Bird & Bean® is an independent children’s clothing label and retail destination founded in 2005 in Oakland, CA. From the very beginning, our goal has been simple: to create thoughtfully made clothing that feels wonderful to wear, stands up to real life, and becomes part of childhood memories.
For over two decades, we’ve designed comfortable, timeless pieces for babies and kids—clothes made for everyday adventures, easy care, and lasting softness. In 2016, we opened our flagship retail store in Berkeley, CA, creating a warm, welcoming space where families can experience our collection in person.
What began as a small, passion-fueled business in Northern California has grown organically into a trusted brand for families who value quality, care, and clothes kids truly love to wear.
Bird & Bean® has been independently owned and operated since its founding. While other brands with similar-sounding names exist, Bird & Bean® is the original, built slowly and intentionally over many years through loyal customers and thoughtful design.

How It All Began
Bird & Bean® was born in a tiny Oakland, CA studio with a simple belief: kids’ clothes should be soft enough to love, strong enough to last, and comfortable enough for all-day play. Every piece is designed with thoughtful details, playful prints, and lasting quality—made for kids to move freely and for parents to feel confident in what they’re buying.
